Educational and instructional practices involve an active process that centers on student engagement. This active involvement is essential for maintaining students’ interest and ensuring effective learning, as lasting learning is often achieved through student participation. In this respect, teaching methods and techniques employed in the classroom are of critical importance. The more senses a teaching method appeals to at the same time and the more active it makes the student, the more successful it is. In language teaching, it is very important for students to take an active role in the process in order to develop their awareness of the use of language. One method that facilitates such engagement is drama. For this purpose, this study explores instructors’ perspectives on the applicability of drama in teaching Turkish as a foreign language. In the study, it was aimed to reach forty instructors working in TÖMER units of various universities and to get their vies on the use of drama in teaching Turkish as a foreign language. Designed as a case study within the framework of qualitative research methods, data were collected using a semi-structured interview form. The form comprised two sections: the first collected personal information about the participants, and the second included five questions addressing the sub-problems of the research. The data obtained in the study were analysed using content analysis. When the results of the study were analysed, it was seen that the instructors frequently incorporate drama into their lessons. In the opinions of the instructors, drama method was seen as an effective method in terms of being fun, making the student active in the process and providing permanent learning. However, challenges were also identified, including the time-consuming nature of drama activities, the complexity they add to classroom management, the difficulty of assessment, and the need for advance planning and preparation.
